advani web savvy
It’s in fact pretty striking to see indian politicians turning web savvy in the build up for the upcoming elections. Well, full points to BJP, i’d say. The way they’ve tailored the online campaign for L.K.Advani as president is pretty neat – comprising of an excellent, state of the art website(http://lkadvani.in/eng/index.php) in both english and hindi , plus a blog by the One himslef and well, hell lots of stuff that can keep you at the site for hours. It’s in fact pretty interesting, the way he’s being portrayed more like a moderate .. giving more thrust to education, to farmers, etc. Nothing about the religious extremism and hindutva agenda that you would expect of Advani. Atleast they have it all well concealed on the website. ;P . The webite and blog garners adequate visibility through well placed banners on websites of thehindu, ndtv and various other poular indian websites. Definitely appreciate the move and at the same time hope that it would be used as a platform for meaningful debate and not just by blind fans or for wasteful abuse.
The opposition, rather the ruling party however has been caught on the back foot though. Both Soniaji and Manmohanji are stuck with websites from some past era — that just doesn’t attract the new generation voters. (
http://www.soniagandhi.org/ ,
http://www.manmohansingh.org/) The “future of congress” – rahulji seems to be asleep with the site still under construction. Its pretty sad to see many of the young , tech savvy politicians of india haven’t quite understood the importance of this medium.
And what could you be expecting of the Communists afterall !! No sites that I could find for any of the top brass(please bring to my attention, if any) and a well edited and censored and totally lack lustre party website is all the CPI & CPI(M) have to their credit. (
http://www.cpindia.org/,
http://www.cpim.org/).
Overall, thumbs up to Advani on the marketing, but bit unsure about the new image. L.K.Advani has just too much of baggage to move onto this new avataar, he’s just left too many scars on India. Congress and communists — “jaagore!!”. As for the elections, well — I hate the Congress for the reservation and utter impotence in protecting the people of the India. I hate the BJP and the Sangh Parivaar even more for the anti-secular and anti-christian agendas. The Communists — dont deserve a mention on the national platform — they’re just a thing of the past with their anti-development views and leaders who are just inempt at moving forward.

Advani has quite a fancy laptop
Well it is quite sad that only the BJP has seen the need to use the power of the internet in spreading the propaganda. Let’s see how successful their plan works out…

oh, thats a doctored pic:) — the original pic only has Advani sitting at his table — the laptop was added into the picture by someone else (pretty neat work at that though!! ).
